Veteran Radio 1 hip hop DJ Tim Westwood joined students at Hackney Community College for their end of year showcase last week.
He judged an open mic competition which saw students rapping and singing at the college in Falkirk Street and went on to introduce the fashion show.
The annual event also saw catering students helping visitors to ice cakes, and impressive art, design and media exhibitions on show across the campus, along with stalls from external organisations like the nearby Geffrye Museum.
Ian Ashman, principal said the day was “a superb showcase of the students’ talents.” “I’m very proud of what they have achieved this year and this was a great opportunity to show off the high quality of our students’ work to the wider community.
“Having Tim Westwood as our VIP guest, taking the time to talk to students and taking a real interest in their achievements, made it even more special.”
