Burgeoning artists from the nursery and reception classes at Millfields primary beat 20,000 entrants to bag £7,000 art funding for their school.
The school in Hilsea Street, Lower Clapton, was one of two runners-up for the the Saatchi Gallery/Deutsche Bank Art Prize For Schools 2015.
Alistair Hicks, senior art curator for Deutsche Bank’s Art Collection said: I am pleased that as well as choosing a couple of strong individuals the judges spotted a trend – the idea of people working together to make art.
“One of the prizes goes to one of the youngest collectives in the world – a very young classroom.”
