The quality of photography shown by Hackney pupils has inspired British Telecom to establish a photography award for young people.

There were five proud winners from Hackney University Technical College in the first year of the newly established Athena Cup which recognises outstanding achievement in photography.

Hafeez Adifagbade, Monjuma Begum, Haider Perez, Ransbrilla Sesay, and Fatmata Cole from the specialist digital media and medical training school in Kingsland Road, all aged 14 and 15, received awards and the honour of having their photos used in future BT publications.

Overall winner, Hafeez Adifagbade was presented a canvas of his winning work, “Taxi!”.
