A 20-year old from Hackney has been awarded one of just six prestigious civil engineering scholarships.
Sam Frith-Salem, 20, from Hackney Central has succeeded in getting a place on the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Quest Technician Scholarships scheme, which provide each winner with up to £1,500 in financial support and are awarded to those who have excelled in their civil engineering studies.
The former Mossbourne Academy pupil, currently studying for his Construction and the Built Environment HNC at the College of North West London whilst working as a technical trainee at Arup, a global firm of consulting engineers, hopes the scholarship will help him get one step closer to achieving his dreams.
He said: “I hope in the future to get a degree and one day become a director of an engineering coordination company.”
