Nappy hunt prize draw marks Real Nappy Week in Hackney

Families in Hackney are challenged to hunt down washing lines adorned with cloth nappies next week, to mark Real Nappy Week.
The 12 washing lines will be hung in family-friendly locations around the borough from Monday (April 28), to raise awareness about the alternatives to disposables, which account for six per cent of waste in the borough - equivalent to the weight of nearly 456 double decker buses each year.
Everyone who takes their photo in front of the nappies and either posts it on Facebook, tweets or emails it to the Hackney Real Nappy Network, will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a goody bag including cinema tickets and a meal for two.
One entry per person per washing line is allowed so the more washing lines – of which there are over a dozen – a family finds, the more entries they will gain in the prize draw.
Madlyn Ray-Jones from the Hackney Real Nappy Network said: “The washing lines are a fun way to mark Real Nappy Week 2014, as well as get local families interested in making the switch away from disposables.
“It will be clear for all to see that cloth nappies are bright, colourful and look great, but it’s worth noting that they can also save families considerable amounts of money and are far more environmentally friendly than disposables.”
