Karen Hills’ team are currently on a five-match losing streak, but they are confident of ending their poor form at Dronfield

Bianca Baptiste has urged Tottenham Hotspur Ladies’ to keep fighting if they want results to start going their way as they face Sheffield FC this weekend in the FA Women’s Super League 2.

Spurs go into Sunday’s game on a strong quest to end a disappointing run of form after they suffered a fifth successive defeat last weekend away to Millwall Lionesses, who are unbeaten in the WSL 2.

Although results haven’t been going their way, the team maintain their fighting spirit and are hoping that they can turn things around against seventh place Sheffield.

Baptiste has advised her team-mates to remain head strong in the build up to the game, she said: “I feel as long as our heads don’t go down then we will 100 per cent get back on track and we need to not let it (run of defeats) affect us mentally and keep fighting.

“It’s a new league and we have come in not knowing what to expect. It’s been difficult trying to adapt to the way WSL 2 runs as we don’t play week in, and week out.”

Sunday’s league clash in Dronfield will be yet another tough challenge for the Lilywhites as they come up against a team on the same mission as them.

Sheffield, who are just one point below Spurs in the league, are also hoping to end a five-game winless drought and Baptiste has warned that the opposition cannot be taken lightly.

The attacker added: “They are going to want it just as much as we do and they are not going to roll over and give it to us, we are going to have to work hard for it.

“At training we have been focusing on the way we play, but also trying different formations that we have never played before so that we don’t come to the game predictable.

“But we prepare just like we do with any other club and focus on our strengths and what we as a team can do to win the game.”

Last season’s joint-top goalscorer is yet to start for the Lilywhites in 2018 after she missed the Millwall game and started on the bench in the fixture before that against Brighton & Hove Albion, but she is hopeful that she can make a difference in some way or another.

“When it comes to playing for my girls I don’t give up,” Baptiste concluded. “I work hard regardless of my situation if I’m starting or not.”
