Four men are calling for support as they go head-to-head with rival teams from Bristol and Manchester to win a life-changing opportunity for a mentorship in the creative industries.

They want to “let London’s legacy live” as they take the party scene by storm for City Hack, a competition organised by Desperados and talent company UKF.

DJ Aaron Beveney, of Mare Street, Hackney, is joining forces with graphic designer Milan Abad, promoter Alex Donald and visual artist Tom Porter to undertake a series of creative challenges, the first of which is tomorrow (Friday) at the Old Truman Brewery.

The events will culminate in a final showdown – judged by a panel – at internationally renowned club Building Six in London’s O2, alongside A-list appearances.

Aaron, who will be in charge of keeping the crowds moving with a stellar soundtrack, said he would bring lots of “energy and a winning mentality”.

He added: “London and everyone in it inspires me, along with the Hackney, east London, backdrop. Hackney has seen a development from really a no-go area to now one of the coolest spots in London.

“London has a tradition of hosting some of the most monumental music events in history, and I am not one who likes to break traditions, so support us and continue London’s legacy.

“Running events, graphic design, networking, DJ-ing, negotiation and video production are all in my experience and are being used to take part in these projects. Expect the unexpected – big and loud.”

Tom’s visuals will give the music another dimension, designed to enthral the audience.

Alex will be sourcing spaces as well as getting people hyped up for the events, stunts and displays.

Bringing five years of experience to the table, and known for his work at Egg and Groovefest, he said: “I think the judges are looking for the teams to think outside the box – you could just put on a normal club but this is about how it differentiates from just a bog standard club night.

“They’ve asked us to think as big as big as possible so that is why we have chosen the brewery tomorrow.” All three teams will be mentored by a panel of leading experts from UKF, including hip-hop and dubstep group Foreign Beggars, and Carly Wilford, promoter and show DJ for Rinse FM. The winners will receive a full 12-month mentorship with UKF’s hand-picked names.
