Fears of explosion as gas leak causes traffic chaos across Hackney and Islington

A gas leak in Dalston is causing traffic chaos across parts of Hackney and Islington.
Police have sealed off Balls Pond Road from the traffic light junction with Essex Road to the junction with St Paul’s Place, as fire crews work to cut off the gas supply.
Vehicles are trailing back down Essex Road towards Angel Islington, Southgate Road, and down Balls Pond Road towards Dalston.
