Five Points Brewing Company teams with street food stall for Hackney Wick venture

Hackney Wick’s craft beer revolution is showing no signs of letting up with the launch of Mason and Company.

Founder of Five Points Brewing Company Ed Mason has teamed up with Rachel Jones, founder of street-food stall Capish? for the new cafe and bar at the new “foodie” quarter at Here East in the Olympic Park.

Ed founded Five Points in 2013 after taking over The Duke of Wellington pub in Balls Pond Road and became the first brewery to pay the London living wage.

Two of the 20 beer taps at Mason and Company will serve Five Points, with the other 18 serving rotating beers from across the capital.

“I’d spent years selling other people’s beers, but always harboured aspirations of my own,” he said.

“I met Rachel not long after we started The Five Points. We were looking for a street food company to cater for our first brewery open day and someone recommended Capish? to us.

“It turns out that we had both started up in the same month (December 2012) and had a lot of friends in common.

“We shared similar business values and worked well together and it felt like a natural progression to set up our own joint venture together.

“It’s such a beautiful location – we have massive wide screen windows which look out on to the park, the canal and a big blue Hackney sky.”
