Barworks founder Mark Francis-Baum, chef Gizzi Erskine and former Rough Trade East manager Noreen McShane are just some of the people on board for the new venture in Keltan House, an old Hackney Council office.

It features a coffee shop and florist, a podcast studio and a locally sourced deli and off-licence.

Marc, the founder, said: “This has been a labour of love for myself and our amazing team. From finding the space over four years ago, to assembling a group of collaborators and partners to open the doors this month; we are thrilled to have repurposed this drab former job centre into something for the community to enjoy.”

Gizzi Erskine is serving as creative food director overseeing The Dining room, The Deli and Off-Licence, as well as the open kitchen, featuring neighbouring bakers Breadstation and Hackney Gelato.

She said: “As a Hackney resident, I’ve forged relationships with some of the best producers. It’s terrific to finally be able to host all the talent under one roof.”

The venue has been kitted out in the art-deco designs of Pure White Lines in Shoreditch. Cocktails come courtesy of the East London Liquor Company and broadway market staple Rebel Rebel will be selling its floral creations.

Noreen’s new record shop Stranger Than Paradise is also there, and features an in-house podcast studio, where the market’s own community show will be recorded.
