Hackney women are being invited to dabble in carpentry and plumbing on a free five-day construction course next month.

Participants on the course run by the Women and Manual Trades (WAMT) organisation will learn about construction career opportunities, try out trades like carpentry and plumbing in hands-on sessions and visit a building site.

They will also gain a CSCS card - the Health & Safety qualification you need in order to work on a building site - and find out about the council’s Ways Into Work programme, which can provide ongoing support.

Funded by Hackney Council the five-day programme is available to women of any age who live in the borough, and will takes place at WAMT’s HQ near Old Street from February 3-7 between 10am to 3pm.
