TWELVE teenagers have been arrested over the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in South Hackney.

The girl was attacked repeatedly at addresses in Victoria Park Road and Ainsworth Road and on the Frampton Park estate.

It is alleged that she was subjected to serious sexual assaults by a group of teenagers with more youths joining them.

The alleged assaults took place between 6pm and 8.30pm on Monday last week.

The 12 youths have been bailed by police to return on a date yet to be confirmed.

Det Insp Colin Crichton, of Stoke Newington police, said: "This was a traumatic and frightening experience for the victim.

"It is essential that anyone who has any information, no matter how small, contacts police so that those responsible can be held accountable for their actions."
