Any unwanted Christmas gifts need not languish in your cupboards for the next 10 years as they can be put to good use by Hackney’s end of life hospice, St Joseph’s.
The next of five annual jumble sales which usually see people queuing to get in will be held on February 2, and collectively the sales raise around 100,000 a year for the Mare Street organisation.
A team of volunteers sort through any donations twice a week, separating clothes from toys and bric-a-brac. Jewellery is sold to a jeweller and anything a little bit more valuable or special will be sold on internet auction site eBay.
Even broken items might raise a bit of money, and hole-ridden clothes can be sold on as rag.
The hospice is open seven days a week to accept donations in the foyer, otherwise call 020 8525 6070 to arrange collection.
