Members of an over-50s club have unveiled a shiny new mosaic they have been working on for nine months.
The Silver Linings Club, run by environmental charity Groundwork London, has been working under the expert guidance of Hackney Mosaic to refresh the entrance to the Fellows Court Community Centre in Weymouth Terrace, Haggerston.
Rose Woolmer, who cut the ribbon at a grand unveiling ceremony, said: “I just like coming to do things – spending some time with the company of other people.
“The mosaic will add a splash of colour and it might get more people to come along and use the hall. I’ve enjoyed the company of other people, having a little chat and a cup of coffee.”
Silver Linings is nearing the end of a two-year programme for people to lend a hand in Hackney, with an aim to reduce social isolation.
