With less than 24 hours to go before music begins on Hackney Marshes, the BBC’s Hackney Academy is closing its doors for the last time.
The Radio 1 and 1Xtra Academy ran for three weeks at the Hackney Picturehouse, Mare Street, and gave careers advice to young people from Hackney and the surrounding area.
Highlights of the free events included Q&A sessions with US R&B star Usher, Bafta award-winning actor Adam Deacon and Dragons’ Den success story Levi Roots.
Workshops on journalism, music production and an entrepreneur event called Hackney Dragons were also on the bill.
Doors open for the first day of the Hackney Weekend at 10.30am tomorrow and Saturday’s line-up includes Jay-Z, Calvin Harris, Jack White and Leona Lewis.
