Outfits made from recycled materials like bicycle inner tubes, used bingo cards, and newspapers were modelled by their creators in a fashion show with a difference at Core Arts.

Textile artists from Core Arts also used coat hangers, bottle tops, polythene bags and nails mixed in with some of their own fabric designs to create the fantastical garments.

The organisation in St Barnabas Terrace, Homerton, was founded in 1992 to use the arts to break down many of the prejudices associated with people with mental health problems and promote access and participation.

Core artist and trustee Kerry Hudson said the free show was so successful the group plan to stage another next year.

“Both the turnout and reaction were overwhelming, we all worked together to make it a great night,” she said.
