Hackney arts projects get funding boost

The futures of six arts projects in Hackney have been given a major boost thanks to Arts Council England grants.

The Institute of International Visual Arts in Shoreditch got £120,000, A New Direction, a Shoreditch arts education organisation was given £101,000 and The Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick received £85,000.

In Hoxton, the Talawa Theatre was given £150,000 while Access All Areas, a learning disabled theatre, got £122,720. Art centre for refugees and migrants, Counterpoint, was given £84,000.

Joyce Wilson, London director for Arts Council England, said: “London is home to some of the most exciting creative organisations in the world. I’m thrilled that the Arts Council has been able to support so many of them in achieving their ambitions to diversify income, safeguard their businesses, and keep London creative.”
