A Hackney musical trio have secured a slot this Saturday on the same bill as one of their great influences - double BRIT Award-winning hip-hop singer Ms Dynamite.
Project Caramel will perform at the UK Black Pride Event in Bloomsbury, which aims to promote unity amongst the Black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Hackney-born rapper Opc Bandit – so-called since she was 14 because she “is original, she likes pink and she is caramel,” – met fellow band members singer Sarai and special effects man Danny C, through their work as learning mentors on a variety of Hackney youth music projects.
The 21-year olds supported rapper Tinie Tempah at the 10th Hackney Youth Awards at The Ocean in 2009, where Sarai was presented with a ‘Peer Education Award’.
Although Project Caramel is unsigned the group have released a single on www.reverbnation.com/projectcaramel
