A bar housed in a historic railway station will finally launch this month after its opening was delayed due to the partial collapse of a neighbouring Victorian Terrace.
Oslo, which is based in Amhurst Road, Hackney Central was due to open on November 22 but the building was cordoned off following a decision by Hackney Council to undertake urgent demolition work on a nearby terrace because it was deemed unsafe.
The bar suffered no structural damage but access to the site was restricted for a number of days.
The venue, which is next to footpath which leads up to the Overground station, will offer Nordic-influenced food all day and live music in the evenings.
Head Chef Dave Ahern, formerly of House of Wolf and Burger Breakout, has created the menu, which features modern interpretations of classic East End dishes. Many dishes also showcase the techniques of curing, smoking and pickling that are celebrated in Nordic cuisine.
Oslo’s owner, George Akins said: “It’s great to be making an impact in East London. I’m looking forward to introducing Oslo as a place where good music, fantastic food and inventive drink menus come together.”
