Hackney Community College pupils enter into the season of goodwill
Hackney Community College (HCC) staff and students extended the season of good will by giving up their time to support the homeless over Christmas.
For the fifth year running students from the college in Falkirk Street helped out at the North London Action for the Homeless centre, based at St Pauls Church Hall in Stoke Newington Road, lifting the spirits of people in needy circumstances.
The drop-in centre serves three course vegetarian meals twice weekly to up to 60 people, with a main meal, dessert, tea and coffee to keep the cold away.
Health access workers, outreach workers, TB specialists and drug and alcohol workers are based there along with a volunteer hairdresser.
HCC has also donated money which will go towards buying sleeping bags and warm and wet weather clothes.
