Springfield Park could be in line for a £3.2m revamp, and Hackney Council is inviting people to an open day to find out more about the plans.

Ideas developed with the Springfield Park User Group include refurbishing the park’s mid-19th century buildings, upgrading footpaths, play equipment and gates, as well as work to enhance the park’s landscape.

The council has been successful in the first round of Heritage Lottery Fund bidding, but needs to submit a second-round submission next June to secure it.

Visitors to a drop-in event on Sunday will be able to talk to the team developing the plans and share feedback about the proposals.

There will be free activities for adults and children, including face painting and ecology tours at the event marquee, outside the café near the Springfield Road entrance, from 11am to 3pm.

More information about the project and a questionnaire about the future of the park can be seen at hackney.gov.uk/springfield-park until December 11.
