Hackney Council has made a video showing how to change a light bulb.
The instructional film is designed to enable its tenants to carry out minor DIY jobs and home maintenance themselves, like how to unblock a sink or toilet, managing damp and mould in the home, and what to check if your heating isn’t working.
Cllr Philip Glanville, cabinet member for housing said: “We hope tenants find the new videos useful and that they will feel confident in carrying out some simple jobs themselves, which will reduce waiting times for more serious repairs.”
The repairs service for the council’s arms-length management organisation, Hackney Homes, manage more than 30,000 homes across the borough and receive thousands of calls from tenants each month, many of which relate to minor repairs and maintenance.
