An innovative cycle-taxi service is launching in Hackney to help the elderly and those with mobility issues get from A to B.

The service, run by cycle training firm CTUK and funded by the town hall, will help those who would previously have to call Dial-a-Ride to get to appointments or pop to the shops.

The passengers can either join in and pedal with the driver or sit back and enjoy the ride.

The custom-made bikes will be debuted at a roadshow outside Hackney Town Hall tomorrow, where people can take the bikes out for a spin to London Fields.

The service will be officially wheeled out on April 18 and run every Tuesday throughout the spring and summer with two-hour slots available.

Bookings can be made here or by calling 020 7232 4384.
