Court action is being taken against a group of travellers who set up camp on Stoke Newington Common three weeks ago.
Hackney Council will today apply for permission to move the group on after failed efforts to reason with them.
A Hackney Council spokesman said: “The council is aware that a group of travellers have moved onto Stoke Newington Common and we are working to resolve the situation.
“There is a formal process involved, but we have been working through it as quickly as possible. We are now seeking a court order which will require them to leave.”
