A Hackney Council road sweeper is in hospital after being knocked down by a moped in Green Lanes this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 4.30pm and took the worker to hospital.

A Hackney Council spokesman said: “One of our sweepers was clipped by a moped and knocked over.

“It doesn’t seem too serious. The police are taking him to hospital as a precaution and investigating.

“We’ll speak to our crews and find out what happened.”
