A music-mad married couple who have had to curb their gig-going since becoming parents have come up with a solution – bring the little ’un along.

Sarada Chunduri-Shoesmith and her husband Adam Shoesmith met at a concert 12 years ago and the pair could often be found watching their favourite bands for the next 10 years.

But when they welcomed Edwin to the world last year they had to rein in their ticket buying, something they were not happy to do.

So they came up with the idea of hosting gigs for parents and their newborns, and their company Wake Up Gigs has now booked its first event – the first of its kind in the capital.

Sarada and Adam said: “As parents of a baby who miss the live music experiences London offers so much we are using our passion of enjoying new artists in gig venues and hosting them ourselves.

“The idea was born out of attending other events in London such as the ace Big Fish Little Fish, the cooler than cool Fun DMC and all-in-one party that is Buggied Out.

“We are trying to take that a step further and put on a gig where parents can enjoy live music performances in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.”

The first acts will be singer/songwriter Shanade and Malka, an “alt-pop” act. The gig will take place on November 13 at Concrete Space in Shoreditch High Street. Tickets are £10 for parents and free for kids, with all profits going to Barnados. Book at tickettailor.com.
