A charity staged a big birthday bash to celebrate 40 fabulous years helping disabled Hackney residents become more independent.

More than 70 guests turned out for the party in Dalston Lane to mark the milestone for Advance, which was previously called the Hackney Independent Team.

Party games, sport, food and music were the order of the day for Advance customers, their families and staff.

Sade Kur, head of services for Advance in Hackney thanked everyone who came along.

“We had loads of fun and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves, taking part and sharing memories,” she said.

“It was the perfect way to celebrate 40 years helping people to live the life they choose.”

Advance supports disabled people, those with a mental health condition and others with learning disabilities, at home, work or in the community to live the life they choose.
