Young people belted out songs from Chicago, Dream Girls and the Greatest Showman and danced their hearts out to hits like Pinball Wizard at a variety performance at the Hackney Empire on Saturday night.

Over 160 students aged from seven to 18 from the Anna Fiorentini Theatre and Film School, some of whom have already starred in professional shows and films, took part.

MP Meg Hillier who was in the audience said: “To see West End stars performing with children who do this for fun is a joy to behold. Anna works a little bit of magic here in Hackney.

“The showcase underlined all the best of the school – talented, vibrant, energetic and above all fun. That all children are welcome, whatever their background and income, is a huge strength.”

Anna Fiorentini added: “What I loved about Saturday is that every student had a huge smile on their faces even if they have no intention of going into the entertainment industry. The professionalism of the show and the experience it gave our students will for many be a life changing experience. As usual my students and creative team did me proud.”
