A 16-year-old Hackney girl left fighting for her life in a coma after being attacked in May has died.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause as head injuries with associated complications.

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with grievous bodily harm but detectives are now treating the attack as murder.

Det Chief Insp Nick Scola of the Met’s Homicide and Serious Crime, said: “Our thoughts are with Julie’s family at this difficult time. We know from CCTV that some of the witnesses have not yet come forward and since the tragic death of this young woman, we urge them to do so.”
