Green-fingered guerrilla gardeners in Hackney and Stoke Newington are urged to spend Will and Kate’s big day on a ‘Royal Weeding’ campaign.
The scheme is the brainchild of the guerrilla gardening movement where people tidy up and plant neglected public spots which have become eyesores as an antidote for those who want to give the nuptials a miss but make the most of their spare time on this year’s extra Bank Holiday.
Hackney and Stoke Newington both have flourishing groups who have transformed grot spots with flowers.
The event on Friday (April 29) comes just days before the gardeners’ International Sunflower Day when people are urged to plant sunflower seeds on May Day.
