Hackney homeless charity finds itself homeless for the third time
A homeless charity has ironically become homeless itself, and is appealing for a roof to accommodate its soup kitchen.
Rhythms of Life International (ROLI) has been using Frampton Park Baptist Church in Frampton Park Road to cook and serve hot food to the destitute.
But the premises’ boiler broke down in January, meaning they couldn’t prepare hot meals, and then in June the yearly tenancy agreement was not renewed.
The non-profit organisation, which was previously based in Dalston and Stoke Newington, is now back to square one, delivering cold food packages from a small white van in a parking lot.
Charity founder, Andrew Faris said: “Winter is impending and the volunteers and myself can no longer offer a dignified place for the homeless to sit down, have a chat and helpful advice, enjoy the warmth and hot dishes.”
