A Hackney charity rolled out the red carpet for a film showcasing the highlights of a three-year project involving more than 150 school children from the borough.
The Speak Out Make a Play project involved kids devising their own plays and creating their own scripts, props and costumes and was praised by panto star Kat B and Tracey Beaker actor Jerome Holder.
The project aimed to help children, who were all transitioning from primary to secondary school, develop their speech, communication and language skills.
More than 130 kids, families and friends attended the afternoon screening of the 30 minute film made by social enterprise Artburst and funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
Speak Out project manager Jane Bell said: “It’s one of the joys of my job to work with so many fantastic Hackney children and families. This year our ‘Make a Play’ students have surpassed all expectations...such high achievers, well done!”
