A new community hub in the home of grassroots amateur football is among 52 finalists receiving an award for outstanding architecture.
The Hackney Marshes Centre designed by architect Stanton Williams was amongst 306 national and international entries for the 2012 Civic Trust Awards.
Established in 1959, the awards recognise the very best in architecture, design, planning, landscape and public art which have made a positive cultural, social or economic contribution to the local community.
The council-funded scheme includes new sports changing rooms, a café, and an education facility.
Sustainable features include living green walls filled with recycled crushed concrete and covered in growing plants, an indigenous green roof that complements the local ecosystem, rainwater harvesting facilities and biomass boilers.
The Awards Ceremony takes place on March 2 in Edinburgh.
