The Hackney Playbus will hit the road again on Saturday after £25,000 was raised to buy a new set of wheels.
As reported by the Gazette, the old bus, which has been about since the 1970s, broke down for the last time in August.
A campaign ensued and thanks to generous donors the fundraising target was hit, allowing bosses to buy a new vehicle.
And as a thank-you, a sharing picnic will take place at Hackney Downs on Saturday.
One service user said: “The playbus is such a good opportunity to meet other parents, professionals, and has amazing games for kids: my daughter loves it.”
The crew have also launched another fundraiser aiming to deliver weekly sessions at Hackney Downs for local kids aged under five.
The team need £2,500 to set the wheels in motion. Anyone wanting to donate can do so here.
