A youth club in South Hackney has been awarded £700 to showcase young people’s talents and achievements during the last 25 years since it has been running.
Over the next six weeks Hackney Quest is running workshops with professionals to introduce young people to new skills like photography, drama, music production and dance culminating in a performance on Tuesday December 17.
Nine of the club’s members went to City Hall to present their project idea to a judging panel including the Deputy Mayor of London, Victoria Borwick, before they were awarded the cash grant from the Santander Foundation and Mayor’s Fund for London.
The team wants to demonstrate the talents of the young people, who are who are aged 14-25, and also encourage others to join the club which meets in Poole Road, South Hackney.
