Hackney Council’s trading standards team and police are linking up for a campaign urging Hackney residents to say no to ‘cold callers’ and advising people how to avoid becoming victims of identity fraud.
The advice is never to deal with cold callers, who may turn up unexpectedly at the door, or phone up or email prospective customers who had not sought their services.
Cold callers who make their way into people’s homes can access personal information which may lead to ID fraud
A stall will be set up at Dalston’s Ridley Road Market on Tuesday November 13 and another at Hackney Council Service Centre in Hillman Street on Friday November 16 to coincide with National Consumer Week, which has the themes this year Cold calling - don’t buy it and ID fraud stamp it out!
