The borough’s young Sea Cadets were honoured for their work at the Jack Petchey Achievement Awards at the Kensington Great Hall, including 16-year-old Christopher Saili from the Clapton and Hackney unit.
Christopher was praised for his “great sense of humour” and years of hard work.
The Representative Deputy Lieutenant of Hackney, Lt Col Roderick Morriss, said: “It was a privilege for me to be involved in this event. The Jack Petchey awards are a magnificent means of acknowledging the achievements of young people.”
