Four lucky Sea Cadets from Hackney were chosen to take part in a historical flotilla for the Lord Mayor Show in the City of London on Saturday.
Able Cadets Krystal Weston, 14, James Andrews, 14, and Jake Wilson, 14, and Cadet Jennifer Webb, 16, who are based at Spring Lane in Lower Clapton and are part of the Training Ship Bulwark, helped make history as part of a flotilla of 40 boats.
The show turned back the clock over 100 years to 1856 - the last time the Lord Mayor travelled by boat on the River Thames, to the Palace of Westminster to swear allegiance to the Crown.
Cadet Jennifer Webb who goes to the Petchey Academy said, “We were chosen to row a few weeks ago and it has been great fun, it was hard work, and a really long row, but an amazing experience for all of us.”
