Singers and musicians from across the borough will join together tomorrow (Friday, July 1) for a one-off concert to open Hackney Empire’s “Sounds Like Hackney” programme.

“Raise the Banner” will include performances by Hackney Voices, the Hackney Empire Community Choir, and Hackney Free and Parochial School.

The concert, at St John at Hackney Church in Lower Clapton Road, will be hosted by the Grand Union Orchestra and will be part of the Create 11 festival.

Tom Lancaster, Grand Union Orchestra’s music and administration assistant, said: “It really is going to be a fantastic cross-cultural, cross-generational participatory performance with over one hundred singers and musicians from across Hackney and the east end taking part”.

Tickets will cost 3, although concessions go free, and can be booked from the Hackney Empire Box Office on 020 8985 2424.
