The town hall has teamed up with The Startup Kitchen to host a free all-day conference for Global Entrepreneurship Week, starting on Monday.

The event at Hackney House in Curtain Road, Shoreditch, will include support, mentoring, workshops and panel discussions from business leaders.

They include Pippa Murray, who founded the trendy nut butter spread Pip and Nut, lawyer Peggy Pauwels, Lisa Williams, who set up parenting website Tantrum and Debs Gerrard, creative director of ad agency Albion London.

Startup journalist Taslima Khan and Jacynth Bassett, founder of blog Bias Cut complete the line-up for the panel, who will host a 30-minute question and answer session.

Workshops will cover marketing, branding, finance, project management, contracts and how to set-up as a social enterprise.

Hackney’s business chief Cllr Guy Nicholson, said: “Hackney’s creative economy is one of the fastest growing in the UK generating many opportunities, but it will only remain competitive if new ideas can find a way into the market place.

“The Hackney Entrepreneurship Conference is designed to help you find your way into the market and realise your ideas, so come along.
