Hackney students smash national average in English GCSE results

Hackney students collecting their GCSE results yesterday have smashed the national average for English.
More than 76per cent of students received a pass at grade 4 – the equivalent of a C under the new system – in English language compared to the national figure of 64.9pc and 82pc achieved grade 4 in English Literature compared to 72pc nationally.
Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, deputy mayor of Hackney, said: “Congratulations to everyone who collected their GCSE results.
“Yet again Hackney’s young people have excelled, and I’m very proud of all of our schools for the contribution they make in helping their pupils to make a great start in life. I wish all of our students the very best for the future.”
