Eight students in Year 11 and the sixth form from City Academy and Clapton Girls in Hackney have celebrated completing an intensive residential two-week gliding course at the London Gliding Club.
Students arrived having never flown an aircraft and finished the course able to fly a glider solo.
The course, which the students completed last week, is organised by The Air League and sponsored by Boeing, British Airways and Linklaters.
Andy Perkins, trustee of The Air League and Boeing 777 first officer with British Airways, said: “The aim of the project is to increase accessibility to flying, inspire students to consider careers in aviation and give exciting new experiences to young people during their school summer break.”
