Walking times to the Olympic Park will be minutes shorter from Hackney Wick overground following a £8.5 million upgrade, claim the Olympic Park’s legacy organisation.
The station is due to benefit from a pedestrian underpass below the tracks and entrance which will come out on to White Post Lane, making it quicker to get to iCITY and Fish Island area.
It will also have lifts installed to create step free access by 2016.
The station in Wallis Road was one of four projects to receive a share of a £40million fund for regeneration and business support.
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “These ambitious proposals hold the key to a brighter future for many of London’s communities, and we are delighted to be taking them forward for development.”
