The 24-year-old reflects on where he has improved this season and praises his strike-partner at Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane believes his physical development, or “man strength”, has improved his hold-up play and helped him to score more consistently than ever.

The striker’s late winner against Crystal Palace on Sunday, when he headed home from Christian Eriksen’s corner, was his 35th goal of the season for Tottenham in all competitions.

That already matches Kane’s tally from last term – which was his best for Spurs – and he has now scored in nine of his last 10 matches, including each of the last five.

Meanwhile, he has become increasingly effective in deeper areas with his back to goal, frequently holding off defenders and bringing team-mates into play.

“I definitely feel stronger this year,” said Kane. “As I’m getting older and more experienced, maybe I’m getting man strength. I’m 24 now so it’s about time.

“We do a lot of work on the training field as well and I just feel confident. I think when you’re in good form, you go into every game with defenders wary of what you’re doing.

“I try to use that as a positive, use my strength and bring others into play. That’s an important part of the game.

“I try to work on everything. This year, especially on recent form, I’m scoring in more games - instead of getting braces and hat-tricks all the time, [I’m] getting one goal in six or seven games in a row.

“I’ve scored a few goals from corners now too, which is another thing I wanted to get better at. It’s confidence, as I said. If you’re scoring goals, you feel like the ball is coming to you every time and thankfully it did [on Sunday].”

Kane believes he has benefited from training with Fernando Llorente when it comes to honing the physical side of his game.

“He’s great at that,” said Kane. “He’s tall, solid and uses his arms well to push players off - and that’s important.

“Definitely, watching him in training holding the ball up, I try to learn from every player. It’s great having him here. He’s a great guy and has great experience as well.”
