The England captain suffered an ankle injury on Sunday and is not set to return to training until early March

Spurs have been rocked with the news forward Harry Kane is set to miss potentially 10 matches in different competitions with an ankle injury.

The striker suffered a blow to his left ankle in the closing stages of the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League last weekend and is not set to come back until early March.

After having a scan today (Tuesday), Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves to be without the academy graduate for at least six weeks.

“Following preliminary assessments, we can confirm that Harry Kane has damaged ligaments in his left ankle, sustained during Sunday’s match,” an official club statement read.

“He will continue to be monitored by our medical staff as he commences rehabilitation and is expected to return to training in early March.”

Kane could miss league games against Fulham, Watford, Newcastle United, Leicester City, Burnley, Chelsea and maybe Arsenal too, which takes place on March 2.

In addition to this, the 25-year-old will definitely miss the League Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge on January 24, the FA Cup fifth-round tie at Crystal Palace on January 27 and the Champions League round of 16 fixture with Borussia Dortmund on February 13 at Wembley Stadium.

This news is a big blow for Spurs and boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is also without Heung-min Son for the next two weeks while he competes for South Korea in the Asian Cup.

A slight consolation and crumb of comfort for Tottenham will be the fact Kane does notoriously return quickly from injuries.

The three previous spells he has had on the sidelines with ankle issues resulted in the forward returning earlier than expected.

With Spurs hoping to make the League Cup final on February 24, that date will surely be in Kane’s mind as he races against the clock to return.
