Eleven adult social care services in Hackney are rated “requires improvement” or “inadequate” – above the national average.

In all, 65 per cent of the borough’s adult social care services are rated “good” by the Care Quality Commission – 12pc below the UK average. Hackney’s figures are in a town hall report.

First Choice Home Care and Employment Services in De Beauvoir is the only “inadequate” provider. Ten others “require improvement”.

Briefing councillors, Hackney’s quality assurance manager Jennifer Celaire said: “Those services rated ‘requires improvement’ might still be providing very good care in a number of areas.”

Ms Celaire’s team is carrying out both announced and unannounced monitoring visits and performance reviews alongside the CQC to help all providers reach a “good” rating.
