A new half marathon event is set to take place through the heart of Hackney this summer.
The Run Hackney race will see roads closed as competitors pass some of the borough’s cultural landmarks – such as the Hackney Empire and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – on June 22.
Cancer Research UK and East End Community Foundation will be the official race charities, though runners are free to raise money for any charity of their choice.
Jon Ridgeon, Run Hackney Race Ambassador, said: “This is an extremely exciting development on the London running calendar.
“Set to cater for a range of runners from complete beginners to professional level participants, the race will take in some of East London’s most historic sites as well as going through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which houses so many precious British sporting memories.
