Staff from a female-only mental health ward have been recognised for maintaining a quality service in the most challenging circumstances.
Gardner Ward at the City and Hackney Centre for Mental Health in Homerton Row were voted Team of the Year at East London NHS Foundation Trust’s Staff Awards 2013, beating other teams from Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Barnet and Richmond where the Trust Provides services.
The audience heard the team constantly receives positive feedback from service users and carers because of their simple ethos of valuing and listening to everyone.
Many women suffering with mental health issues have cited their time on the ward as being their tipping point – the significant moment when everything came together and they were able to move forward with strength.
