Hackney Council is trying to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking and the benefits of quitting with drop-in clinics, and is urging residents to take the Stoptober challenge.
Advice will be on hand throughout the borough to coincide with the national Stoptober campaign, run by Public Health England,
A quarter of over 18’s in Hackney smoke and it remains the nation’s biggest killer.
Smoking is also prevalent in young people with 18 percent of 16 to 17 year olds and 28 per cent of 18 to19 year olds in Hackney smoking.
