Hackney Council is tempting people to fill in its online survey about sugar, with prizes including tickets to see the Hackney Empire Christmas panto and brunch at the E5 Bakehouse.

Campaign group Hackney Food Partnership has helped organise the survey, which asks questions like how often you eat breakfast cereal, cakes and biscuits.

It also quizzes participants on whether they would prefer shops and restaurants to hold fewer price promotions on high sugar food and drink, or to run more promotions on healthier foods – the stick or the carrot.

Eating too much sugar can lead to obesity and diabetes. The council’s health chief, Cllr Jonathan McShane, said the survey would help the town hall understand how to help people reduce their sugar intake.
